The Institute of Economic Affairs was the first independent think-tank in the UK, having promoted free market ideas and policies since 1955. Under the leadership of Antony Fisher, Ralph (later Lord) Harris, and Arthur Seldon, the IEA became the architects of Thatcherism.Based in London, the IEA holds a wide range of conferences, seminars, lectures, and working lunches, totalling between 100 and 150 events a year. They are also a major publisher of books on the free market, releasing up to 20 titles a year. Libertarian Alliance
The Libertarian Alliance has been at the vanguard of libertarian thought since 1967. The Alliance has steadfastly held a non-sectarian position within the libertarian movement, encouraging debate within its ranks from members of all ideological persuasions.The Alliance's website is the second-largest libertarian site in the world, and may quite possibly be the greatest resource that British libertarians have. Most Libertarian Alliance publications are available online, completely free of charge, and provide a bedrock of opinion and thought to the spirit of freedom. |
