About Us As libertarians, we are dedicated to the principles of smaller, better, and more efficient government and of respect for individual rights and responsibilities. Our aim, as laid out in the society constitution, is to promote libertarianism, classical liberalism, civil liberties, and free market capitalism. We remain independent of any political parties or external influences to defend the impartiality of the organisation and to help spread the word of libertarianism to as wide an audience as possible. We are unaffiliated to any student unions, and support the disaffiliation of University College London Union from the National Union of Students. Being the university's only non-party political society, the Libertarian Society plays a crucial role in guaranteeing free and vibrant political debate and discourse at UCL.
